EXCHANGES BECOME A REGULAR FEATURE
The school visits to and from Cockermouth School take place every year,
involving the state school -Collège Marcel Pierrel- and the Catholic schools
-Collège Notre-Dame and Lycée Saint-Joseph. Other groups belonging to the
various town organisations, also travel across the Channel, generally two
of them a year, so as to maintain a fair balance, and of course adults and
officials from both towns meet every year on October, 27th, for the Twinning
Anniversary.
The groups usually consist of 50 people and the journey by coach takes approximately
26 hours. As a perfect illustration of commitment and fidelity we can mention
the Majorettes du Gevaudan with Madame Engelvin who were the first to organize
a visit and have just been on a recent trip with even greater enthusiasm.
OUR AIM FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE
: TO PERFECT THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE LANGUAGE
In their exchange programmes our twinning committees
organise work experience for our students in industry and commerce. These
courses are very much appreciated and are made possible by the dedication
of different families who conscientiously provide them with board and lodging.
SHARED EMOTIONS
NOur two committees attach great importance to involving disabled people from our respective towns in visits in order to develop and enrich our exchanges. Despite the practical difficulties, this ambition was realised and some of our Marvejolais enjoyed a very special welcome in the exceptional surroundings of the Calvert-Trust Adventure Centre on the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. |
