Situated to the south of the Massif-central, nearly taking contours of the old province of the Gévaudan, the Lozère is the fifth department of the Languedoc-Roussillon, the only that doesn't have any beaches. With a superior middle altitude to 1000 meters, that is to say most elevated of France, the Lozère is nicknamed the roof of France. Its continental situation confers him of the rough winters and of been them hot and short. It is also the castle of water of France and the Lozère even failed to be called the department of sources in 1790, what drove a countryside of the general advice on the Lozère theme " of sources ". The hydrographic network includes 2740 kilometers distributed in 437 rivers (well-known for their trouts) that all take their source in Lozère. One can mention for example to ally him that will be going to throw itself/themselves in the Loire, The Share and the Tarn in the Garonne, and in short roaches that will constitute with the Rhone the delta of the Camargue. One perceives therefore that the line of water sharing between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean passes by the Lozère.
